Bristol ShoppingBristol is a shopper's paradise and there are literally many hundreds of well-known stores and independently owned shops in and around the city centre, further enchanced by the relatively recent arrival of the glamorous Cabots Circus complex.

There are also a number of specialist shops in Bristol, including jewellers, art galleries, craft shops, toy shops, antiques shops, gift shops and there are also countless clothes shops and boutiques, providing the perfect place for some serious fashion and designer-label shopping.

Opening Hours

Most shops in Bristol open seven days a week, throughout the year, opening around 09:00 until 17:30 or later. On Sunday, opening hours are generally shorter than the rest of the week.


Bristol is full of different areas to shop and provides an enormous spectrum of shopping for tourists and visitors. Many of the best known shops are situated in Bristol city centre and feature grand architecture, although there are a number of shopping centres nearby, including the impressive Cribbs Causeway complex of more than 150 shops.

Broadmead Shopping Centre

The Broadmead Shopping Centre is the main precinct and is situated in the heart of central Bristol. This busy shopping centre has an enormous range of more than 400 shops, which is the largest in the area. Broadmead features a number of large department stores, including BHS, Marks and Spencer, Primark and a vast Debenhams store, with many floors and different departments. The Broadmead Shopping Centre also has tax-free shopping in more than 100 shops, numerous restaurants and coffee shops, and is home to the Galleries shopping mall.

The Galleries Shopping Centre is situated within Broadmead and features over 100 different shops, all of which are undercover. High Street favourites include Boots, The Gap, Laura Ashley, Waterstones, WHSmith, Virgin Megastore, as well as many fashion boutiques, home furnishing stores and cut-price clothing outlets. The Galleries also features a large food hall, lifts, escalators, car parking and fantastic decorations at Christmas time.

The Mall at Cribbs Causeway

Cribbs Causeway is an enormous shopping mall, situated on the outskirts of Bristol, close to junction 17 on the M5 motorway. With around 150 stores, this large American-style shopping centre is air-conditioned and has two different levels. Large department stores include John Lewis and Marks and Spencer, which are particularly popular in this huge indoor mall. Cribbs Causeway also features an extensive food hall, with 15 restaurants and cafés, and a seating area for more than 1,000 people. Other attractions include ATM cashpoints, car parking, a crèche for young children, a regular bus service from central Bristol and numerous large shopping stores nearby, with their own car parking areas. Also close to Bristol's Cribbs Causeway Shopping Centre is a multi-screen Warner Bros. cinema and further restaurants.

Broadwalk Shopping Centre

The Broadwalk Shopping Centre is located in the Knowle area of Bristol and features around 30 undercover shops, which include large supermarkets. A free multi-storey car park is available at the Broadwalk.

Cabots Circus

Located at the far end of the city centre, Cabots Circus is a true architectural gem and boasts big names, such as both House of Fraser and Harvey Nichols. Easy to find, Cabots Circus lies just of Newfoundland Street and comes with a car park that has around 2,500 spaces in total.

The Clifton Arcade

Ikea has an enormous store on the outskirts of Bristol, in the Filton area, next to Junction 2 on the M32. Ikea also offers a selection of fabrics, curtains, floorings, house plants, children's toys and numerous colourful rugs.
