Situated in Bristol's Clifton area, Bristol Zoo and Gardens are one of the most popular tourist attractions for children in the south-west of England and the zoo was awarded the prestigious title of 'Zoo of the Year' by the 'Good Britain Guide' in 2004. Bristol Zoo features a large collection of animals, displayed in natural surroundings and landscaped enclosures. The Bristol Megabowl is situated in the Ashton area of Bristol and is one of Bristol's most popular attractions for children and families. With plenty of tenpin bowling lanes, other attractions include a large play area for children, known as Planet Kids, which has ball pits, slides, tunnels and soft play areas for children under 12 years old. There is also an arcade area at the Bristol Megabowl, with many of the latest games, together with air-soccer and pool tables.

Avon Valley Country Park is located on the outskirts of Bristol, 7 km / 4.5 miles from central Bristol, and attractions include an outdoor adventure playground for children, a junior assault course, a children's indoor play area with enormous slides and ball pits, a riverside trail, many rare-breed farm animals, Shetland ponies, horses, llamas, wallabies, a boating pond, lakes for carp fishing, a miniature railway, boat trips on the river and picnic areas.

Weston-super-Mare's SeaQuarium is situated close to Bristol and is one of the most popular attractions for children in this area.
